sheepskin care products

Keeping your sheepskin fresh and clean doesn’t require much, but there are some products and tools that can make taking care of your wool much easier

What products do sheepskin need?

Wool Detergent: Keeping a mild detergent in your home that is specifically designed for wool, can help keep the sheepskin clean without causing damage to the fibers. Regular detergents are too harsh and can strip the natural oils from wool that it needs to keep its life.

Wool Softener: This can help keep the wool fibers soft and reduce static cling. It’s important to use a formula that’s safe for natural fibers. Wool softeners can also help reduce scratchiness. This however is not necessary in many cases but can help in certain situations.

Wool Brush or Lint Roller: A soft-bristle brush or a lint roller can be used to remove dust, lint, or minor debris. Using an animal safe brush can also bring back life and fluffies in your wool just be sure to brush softly to not rip the fibers.

Stain Remover: For extra tuff stains that some cloth and water doesn’t get rid of, using a gentle, wool-safe stain remover can be helpful. However, always test a small patch first to ensure that the type of stain remover doesn’t cause any damage to your wool.

Wool Storage Bags: If you need to store away your wool items, be sure to store them in breathable cotton or linen bags. Avoid storing your wool products in plastic. Storing your wool products in plastic can trap moisture which can lead to mold or mildew over a longer period of time.
